I already knew what I was going to do, my crew knew as well for we foresaw things possibly playing out this way. Lil D had studied the laws and bylaws of The Commission and had figured this for an option by admitting what I had done if given the chance to.

There was no way in Hell that I was giving ANYONE ten million dollars, which would set my crew back by decades. There was only one alternative left.

“Don Vincenzo. On behalf of myself and my crew, I choose the first option sir.”

Vincenzo blinked rapidly as if he were trying to wake himself up from a dream. He couldn’t believe that I wasn’t going to pay him. Tough titty.

“So be it!” He said in a voice that bellowed throughout the conference room. “From this day forth, JDC and his crew will no longer represent the name of North Jersey. Until a suitable replacement can be named by myself on behalf of The Commission, North Jersey business interests in The Syndicate shall remain barren; all told!”

And just like that, I’d gotten the fam and I kicked out of The Garden State Syndicate. We were now back out in the streets with everyone else; hustling for a buck. What we had going in our favor was that all of our schemes and ventures were of our own creation.

We’d never used any Commission resources to make money so all of our business interests would remain ours, specifically the bootlegging. If any of the other Syndicate members wanted to bootleg that would be their right of course, but being that we owned every mass pressing company in the state well, you get the picture. No Syndicate member was allowed to conduct business with us otherwise they’d run the risk of being kicked out too.

When the meeting was adjourned, it wasn’t lost on me the dirty looks that I was getting from Costanzo and his sons; it wasn’t lost on Ghost or KC either. I said my goodbyes and we quickly made our way to the truck. Once we were on the road, Ghost turned around in the passenger seat and asked, “So what now Boss? Do you think Ditta and Costanzo will try and make a move against us?”

After putting fire to a fine Cuban cigar, I rolled down the window and responded, “I don’t think that he will old friend, I KNOW that he will. Both of their prides are on the line so they’ll both be out to prove that no one fucks with The Commission and lives to tell about it.”

“That’s what I’m saying Beloved,” Ghost stated back. “Shouldn’t we hit them first before they try and hit us?”

After emitting a light chuckle, I came back with, “That’s exactly what they expect us to do, strike out blindly without any sort of strategy. No, we’ve got some serious recruiting to do before we can go up against those two. Now tonight is the birthday party in Camden for Big E’s daughter. I want you two in your Sunday best and on Academy Street by 7:30.
